Wow another crazy year has almost passed! We have been so busy and it's a blessing! The restoration and Old car repairs are very busy along with the Collision Repair business coming in. Just remember there is no job to big or small for our #AutobodyRepairShop.

Our guys have been making some really cool improvements for some of these classic vehicle owners. Upgrading and rebuilding steering components, suspensions and brakes! Cleaning up corrosion, cutting out rust and welding in welding in metal, under car refinishing, Paint and Body and interior and exterior trim improvements. A #1978FordBronco made it through the complete process and is now at the interior shop getting a new look for an old truck. A 65 Pontiac GTO, a 1972 Ford Ranger, a 1968 Plymouth Fury, a 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser, a 1970 Chevy Monti Carlo, A 1970 Chevy C-10, a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1960 Impala. The closest one to the paint shop is the 1965 GTO with a pure Candy Apple Red Paint job. She is trimmed out and needs another day or two to have the front sheet metal installed.

I guess a shop doing great Body and Paint can be hard to find these days. We did so many things it's hard to go over them all but I will post some pictures and ya all will get an idea :)

This is a very small sample of what we have been doing all year. One thing all these vehicles have in common is a special place in the owners heart!

New location, New Projects

Wow have we been busy! Just moved from our 4000 square foot shop @Gaye Chevrolet to Our 7,500 square foot  shop with many new additions and customer conveniences. Was tons of work literally. Hard to imagine what you can accumulate in 19 years. My son got rid of 4600 pounds of metal for us.

I never posted pictures of the 41 Ford finished so here it is, came out super!

We installed an all new booth with heat to get your car a factory paint job. This booth although it was expensive will be well worth it's price tag for our customers and us!

We reorganised everything to make the flow of vehicles go smoother through the shop and this way we can provide faster and better customer repairs. The booth is actually a drive through, so when they are painted they come around to the other side of the shop for re-assembly.

Come see us at our new facility 3 blocks from our old shop. Next to CVS and First Citizens bank. 6711 East Marshville Blvd. Marshville, North Carolina 28103. Phone 704-624-5659

Remember we are here to help you through the Insurance Maze. We work with all auto insurance carriers but our customers come first. We can help with your deductible and all our work is guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. State of the art facility and certified repair technicians, Know one does it better!

Nissan Owners Beware Of Rusty Floor Pans

"You can feel it's soft right here," Jeff Talman told KSHB.

"Right under his driver and passenger seats, the floorboards were rusting from the inside out," a KSHB reporter said.

"This is a seven-inch area where it's actually rotted up here," Talman said.

That was Jeff Talman, just one of many who have had issues with rusting floorboards in Nissan Altimas.
KSHB reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received more than 400 complains about rust issues in 2002-2006 models.

NBC highlighted a Chicago woman's 2005 car, which had rusted so much the floorboards were actually crumbling.

"The hole was big enough to fit her foot through," NBC reporter Tom Costello said.

"I'm not Fred Flintstone. This is not a good thing," Marie DeMaria said.

While NBC reports snow and road salt could account for rust damage in some vehicles, that's probably not the cause in places that don't get snow and ice. And complaints are coming in from all over the country.

Both Toyota and Ford have recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles in the past few years because rusting underbody parts made the vehicles fall apart.

Despite the number of complaints, Nissan isn't recalling the Altima vehicle models in question.

"It's not a safety recall problem that's going to cause immediate death and injury if you have a hole in the floor. As a result of that, what we've seen is that Nissan has been able to get away with this problem," auto safety expert Sean Kane told WBZ-TV.

KSHB reports the age of the cars is another way Nissan is able to avoid covering cost to fix them.

"Once it's out of the warranty period, obviously they don't have any legal obligation. It becomes more of a customer service issue of whether they want to deal with it or not," body shop owner Bill Eveland said.

NBC did reach out to Nissan for comment, but the carmaker reiterated that both it and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration do not consider the rust problem to be a safety defect.

How long is it going to take to fix my wrecked car?

Customers first concern about auto body repair is how much is it going to cost? And the second question is how long will it take? I always have to look at the vehicle to determine if parts availability is an issue or can we just put it in the shop and perform our work without having to wait for a delivery.

Parts stocking and delivery is very much improved since computer systems have come into play. We generally can get a new OEM part from the dealer quicker than we can get a used or aftermarket part. I sometimes wonder how insurers save any money by using alternate parts on a repair if it takes 3 or 4 days longer to get a Non Factory part.

We determine how many days it takes to repair a damaged vehicle by the number of hours on the estimate. A week of solid work is generally 40 hours at our shop. If your repair estimate has 8 hours on it for example it will require 2 repair days at least. Sometimes we have to wait for material to dry properly before we can continue. An example would be primer, caulking, paint, undercoating and adhesives. At our repair shop we will not shortcut a repair and cut corners because something will fail later because we did not let it dry before we went forward with the repair.

It is kind of funny that a 4 hour repair could take 2 and 1/2 days to complete. One day for the small body repair and the primer to dry completely. Then the next day we paint the repairs and have to let it dry for at least 8 hours before we can put it out in the weather. And when we get it we have to unmask it and then we have to re-assemble it and clean it up so the customer get's their car back and it is like new again.

I was at a luxury BMW dealership inspecting a car last week and it was so new that some service parts were not even in stock in Germany were the car was built. The dealership said it would be at least a month before Germany could even produce the parts needed to fix that new BMW. This is a rare case but it can happen sometimes.

Ask at the time of your estimate and we can explain how long it will take and what all the variables entail. Check out the website for a link to schedule an appointment.
